The Church of Ireland College of Education is one of five Colleges of Education which provide a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree, the qualification generally required to teach in Irish primary schools. The Church of Ireland College of Education provides a supply of teachers for primary schools under the management of the Church of Ireland and other Protestant denominations. The College also provides a range of in-service courses for qualified teachers, especially in the areas of learning support and special education. The Church of Ireland College of Education provides the following courses:Bachelor of Education degree is a professional qualification designed to equip student teachers with the range of knowledge and skills related to the profession of primary school teaching. It is taught jointly by the College of Education and the Department of Teacher Education in the University of Dublin, Trinity College (TCD). Students attend courses in CICE and TCD.

Residential accommodation is available in the College, and each student has his or her own study-bedroom. The residential block contains a number of television lounges as well as the Student Common Room. Meals are available to all students and, in addition, facilities are provided whereby snacks may be prepared. Sports facilities provided on the campus in Rathmines include hockey, tennis, table tennis and badminton. Students may also join any of the clubs in Trinity College; these range from aikido to windsurfing, and offer a choice of almost fifty different sports.
