Houston gets a head-start on its St. Patrick's Day festivities as Irish international rugby star Frankie Sheahan and representatives from Irish Universities hit the city to showcase Ireland's world-class higher-education opportunities.

The event will be at the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel, 2001 Post Oak Blvd., Houston on March 10 from 4-8 p.m.

The student fair is open to high-school students, parents, principals and other parties interested in learning more about the Irish student experience and getting practical tips on how to apply to Irish institutions, and access financial aid.

In addition to Houston, Education in Ireland will stage events in Dallas, New York and Chicago. The cities were selected for their growing population of Irish and Irish-American families, and reputation for nurturing ambitious and global-focused high-school students.

The following universities will be represented at the Houston fair: Dublin City University, National University of Ireland Galway, National University of Ireland Maynooth, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, University College, Dublin and the University of Limerick. Many share an association with Texas-based colleges, including Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M, Texas Tech University, The University of Texas at Austin, and The University of Texas at Dallas.
